'Full ruby-red. Less fruit-driven than the basic merlot, with notes of inky currant, licorice and tobacco leaf; I get a suggestion of cabernet franc even though there currently no franc in the wine. Dense and velvety in the mouth, with lovely penetrating sweetness. Conveys an impression of more thorough phenolic ripeness than the regular merlot.
