Description: 'Highly nuanced nose combines exotic dried fruits, peach syrup, honey, smoke, lichee and blond tobacco, along with the powerfully spicy character displayed by the young 2000. Reticent on entry, then explodes with chewy exotic fruits and spices on the back half. Boasts strong (especially for Mambourg) but perfectly integrated acidity that keeps the flavors brisk. Tactile and very distinctive.'--Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Jul/Aug '01 'A wine for hedonists. There's a touch of new oak here, but it serves as a foil for the tropical fruit, peach and spice flavors. Full-bodied, opulent and off-dry, this tastes low in acidity and is atypical in style, yet it's bold and expressive. Don't expect a classic Alsace white from the Pinot varieties. Drink now through 2010. 50 cases imported.'--Wine Spectator, Jun 30, 2003
